Support for Students Participating Only in This Program

Financial support is provided either as a scholarship or as a Research Assistant (RA) stipend. Master's students receive an "RA stipend," while doctoral students are awarded a "scholarship" from the AGS RISE program.

• Master's program: up to 130,000 yen per month
• Doctoral program: support amount from the AGS RISE program

*The support amount from the AGS RISE program is 200,000 yen per month for the fiscal year 2025. The amount is subject to change.

*"Students participating only in this program" refers to students who are solely focusing on this program or who consider this program as their "major field of study" within the student support program operated by the Tohoku University Advanced Graduate School, and who are not employed as JSPS Research Fellows (see below).

*Students participating only in this program will, in principle, become program students of the AGS RISE program upon advancing to the doctoral program.

Support for Participants as JSPS Research Fellows in This Program

JSPS Research Fellow receives a salary from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. In addition to this, our program provides further support as an "RA stipend."

• Doctoral program: 19,800 yen per month (in addition to the salary as a JSPS Research Fellow)

Support for Students Participating Only in This Program

• Support from the AGS RISE program (see above)
• Travel expenses (excluding per diem & accommodation costs)
• Additional support funds (amount to be inquired at the office)

*Additional support funds are provided as an "RA stipend" for those who wish and have not received support from their own or their laboratory's research funds.

Support for Participants as JSPS Research Fellows in This Program

• An RA stipend of 19,800 yen per month (see above)
• Travel expenses (excluding per diem & accommodation costs)
• Additional support funds (amount to be inquired at the office)

*Additional support funds are provided as an "RA stipend" for those who wish and have not received support from their own or their laboratory's research funds.

*The RA stipend of 19,800 yen per month will be paid retroactively after returning.
